CAN BRA BE WASHED IN A WASHING MACHINE?
It's the eternal choice between convenience and shortcuts, and common sense. Read why we recommend hand washing underwear. First of all, it will allow you to preserve the properties of the materials for longer, and you will be able to enjoy your favorite underwear for longer.
WHY IT'S NOT WORTH WASHING BRA IN A WASHING MACHINE?
Washing in a washing machine adversely affects the quality and durability of materials. It can even lead to their mechanical damage - pilling or stretching. On the other hand, washing underwear at too high a temperature can deform the product or cause colors to fade. Bras with underwires are particularly susceptible to deformation during washing in a washing machine. The spinning process overloads the underwires and is one of the main causes of the underwire coming out of the bra.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU WASH UNDERWEAR?
It is not worth postponing washing underwear for later, e.g. by leaving it in the laundry basket. Washing it less often will not prolong its life at all. It should be remembered that sweat and various types of dirt, such as deodorant, perfume, cream or balm also have a very bad effect on the material.
Learn 5 steps on how to properly hand wash a bra:
- Prepare a bowl with lukewarm water. The best water temperature is 30 degrees, remember that the water should not be too hot.
- Add a gentle detergent to the bowl. Remember to avoid using softeners when washing underwear, as they have an adverse effect on elastic fibers. They cause excessive elasticity of materials.
- Put the underwear in a bowl with water and detergent and leave it for a few minutes. Then start the washing process, which should be gentle. Do not rub or stretch the material, but gently knead it.
- Then rinse the underwear under running water and gently squeeze the water out of it. Absolutely do not wring it! Do not dry underwear in a tumble dryer, but leave the underwear to dry flat. Do not hang bras by the straps or band, as they can stretch.
- Do not forget to separate underwear by color. Light-colored underwear cannot be washed together with dark-colored underwear, because light colors may turn an unsightly gray color, and dark colors washed together with light-colored underwear may fade.
